    I have been using it so far with the portafilter without capsules.
    I enjoy my coffee in my own space every morning, I rarely get coffee out, and in the afternoon when I return I usually make a double Espresso or a hot cappuccino.
    Of course, some parts of it need cleaning because of frequent use. For example, the portafilter has a screw that releases the filter, and you can clean it with a toothbrush and dishwashing liquid.
