Repudiated, hidden, unfinished and prose poems

The result of many years of research in the three institutions that preserve the archive of C. P. Cavafy (Cavafy Archive of the Onassis Foundation, which holds the main body of material, the Papoutsakis Archive of the Hellenic Literary and Historical Archive, and the Historical Archives of the Benaki Museum), this edition, edited by the Catalan Hellenist and Cavafy scholar Eusebi Ayensa, presents, in two volumes, the complete poetic work of the Alexandrian, following the original texts much more faithfully and incorporating all the poet’s corrections, both in manuscripts and in leaflets he printed during his lifetime in various Alexandria printing houses.

The extensive notes include a wealth of previously unpublished material—first versions of well-known poems, comments by C. P. Cavafy on his own poems, etc.—which appears here for the first time and is enriched by the most important new bibliographical contributions to the work of undoubtedly the greatest modern Greek poet.
