The Pz.Kpfw VI (Sd.Kfz.181) Tiger is a German heavy tank from World War II, known as one of the most iconic combat vehicles of the era. Initial development efforts were launched by the German Panzerwaffe command, with early models being unsuccessful. Subsequently, the work accelerated after encounters with T-34 and KW-1 tanks on the Eastern Front. On April 20, 1942, the prototype VK 4501 (H) underwent field testing, after which it entered mass production. The first production versions were called Pz.Kpfw VI Ausf.H1 and later Ausf.E.
