The book was written according to the new curriculum and the new assessment framework for the Modern Greek Language course for the first year of high school, aiming to highlight the multimodality of text genres and the cultivation of language literacies. It is organized into 24 teaching proposals, each of which includes:

- Detailed presentation of a thematic unit, according to the content of the school book
- Theory: organization of speech, ways of paragraph development, cohesion and coherence, summary, text genres (article, speech, letter), description, narration, methodology of topic processing, language varieties, dialects, functions of language, oral and written speech, dialogue, sentence connection, punctuation marks, word composition and production, etc.
- Exercises for consolidating the material of the thematic unit
- Exercises for understanding and applying the theory
- Evaluation criteria (which include various text genres)

The book "Essay - Expression for the first year of high school: 24 teaching proposals":
- Organically connects the teaching of speech organization (theory - exercises and applications in theory) with each thematic unit as well as with the vocabulary and evaluation criteria that frame it.
- Proposes to the teacher and the student a comprehensive and effective organization of the teachable material, freeing them from the need for linear tracking of the school book content and the limitations it entails.
- Responds to the changes promoted in the teaching of the Modern Greek Language course for the first year of high school, which reform the way it is taught and examined.
