Description

The Retro 51 The Met Tudor Armor is a pen that pays tribute to an impressive armor from 1586, crafted in the royal workshops of Greenwich under the direction of Jacob Halder. Today, it is part of the Met's collection.

The armor was designed for George Clifford, the Third Earl of Cumberland and a distinguished Knight of Carter, for use in fields and tournaments.

The pen mimics the original craftsman's work by depicting the emblem of Queen Elizabeth I's family, the Tudor rose, the French fleur-de-lis (then part of the English coats of arms), and two Es (a cipher for Elizabeth).

The gold and black design is printed over the brass body and cap, and it features a protective matte coating.
