The DWM-314-T from D-Link is a mobile router, a device to which other devices (e.g., computer, mobile phone, TV) can connect wirelessly, sharing internet access. It receives internet connectivity through an integrated modem that uses the mobile phone network with a SIM card installed. The SIM card must have an active data plan.
It connects to the 4G network, which offers significantly higher speeds than 3G. For the device to operate at this speed, there must be appropriate coverage from the mobile network in the area where we are.
The device has the capability to configure a VPN (Virtual Private Network) so that all traffic from our devices passes through it. The VPN acts as an intermediary between us and the rest of the internet, allowing us to give the impression that we are geographically located in another country, and the websites we visit will see the VPN's IP address instead of ours. This provides us with anonymity and access to content with geographical restrictions. VPN services are usually paid subscription-based.
With MAC address filtering, it allows specific devices to connect based on their unique MAC address, blocking any device with a MAC address that is not set as accepted.
