The D1S lamp uses High-intensity discharge (HID) technology to produce light through an electric discharge between two electrodes. The system is based on the principle of gas and electrical discharge created and maintained inside a glass tube filled with metals and inert gases, sealed to filter ultraviolet radiation.

The lamp includes the discharge tube and the ballast for igniting the discharge and supporting the electrical power supply, as well as a control system. The lamp’s inner capsule is designed to be prismatic, ensuring the lamp’s photometric characteristics. It is used for original xenon headlights that require xenon lamps.
