The Adafruit (2324) HAT/pHAT board adds a GPS receiver to the Raspberry Pi Zero for location tracking and precise timekeeping. The receiver has a sensitivity of -165 dBm, 66 channels, a 10 Hz update rate, and a current consumption of 20 mA.
The built-in patch antenna is intended for outdoor use, while the u.FL connector allows an external active antenna to be connected. The onboard LED blinks when the receiver determines its coordinates. The board uses the Raspberry Pi’s hardware UART port to communicate with the GPS receiver, so it cannot be used simultaneously to connect a console cable to the RX/TX pins. It includes a socket for a CR1220 backup battery, which is not included, and a prototyping area for adding LEDs, sensors, and other components.
