Foeniculum Vulgare
Fennel is an excellent detoxifier, rich in potassium. Its sprout has a slow but abundant growth: it is long, green, and thin with a pleasant taste. It is recommended for adding flavor to salads. During harvesting, it includes the seed husks, which are safe for consumption along with the sprout.
Cultivation:
- Soak the seeds in water overnight.
- Use the water for watering flowers or cooking, as it is rich in minerals.
- In the morning, place the seeds in trays or jars (about 25 grams), considering their volume will increase by 4 times during germination.
- They grow at room temperature and should be kept away from light until the first leaves appear.
- Spray 2-3 times a day with the required amount of water to keep them moist. The sprouts are ready in 12-13 days.
- Store in the refrigerator for 1-2 weeks and rinse before consumption.
General about sprouts:
Germinated seeds contain many nutrients, vitamins, and enzymes, making them easily absorbable by the human body. Dried seeds contain enzyme inhibitors that make digestion difficult. The germination process deactivates these inhibitors, allowing enzymatic mechanisms to break down proteins and polysaccharides, creating a digestible mixture of vitamins and amino acids. Germination transforms inactive nutrients into living ones that are easily absorbed.
Important: Seeds sold in supermarkets are intended for cooking, and raw consumption poses risks.
