The SKC hand tap set includes three taps for cutting internal threads in metal surfaces. The taps have an M12 thread with a 1.75 mm pitch and are used in sequence depending on the stage and depth of the threading.

No. 1, with 8 to 10 uncut threads at the tip, makes it easier to start cutting in unprepared materials. No. 2 has 3 to 5 uncut threads and is intended for general use or for threads that do not reach the bottom of the hole, while No. 3 cuts threads to the bottom. A hole must first be drilled with a rotary drill before using the taps, and a tap wrench or tap ratchet can be used. Cutting oil is recommended for smoother operation.
