The salt comes from the salt pans of Marinhas do Sal near Aveiro. It is spring water salt that is harvested by hand, preserving tradition. This salt is primal, formed about 200 million years ago from the evaporation of an ancient sea. The salt is released from the rock through underground water streams and surfaces at springs.
