    My first contact with this type of wireless microphones was three years ago, when in 2022 I got my hands on the Rode Wireless GO (the first version), which generally did not impress me much. They were convenient, but had many issues, even in controlled working conditions. This year, I started looking into this product category quite a bit, as I was searching to buy wireless microphones, but I didn't have the budget to go for something like the Sennheiser EW etc., which is the general standard (because they don't have interference since they use high radio frequencies and have many bands, due to greater range in signal coverage, etc.). After quite extensive research, I concluded that obviously they are not ideal, especially for professional use and they don't have perfect sound, but they deliver a fairly decent result, which with a little processing can become very good. I say this in a general context. Now, let's talk specifically about the Hollyland Lark MAX 2. I was looking to buy the first version, as an upgrade from the other sets I had which were not the best (Synco G2A2, Boya Boyamic) because I had used them from colleagues who had lent them to me and when I searched, I realized that the new model had come out and I sat down and looked into it. And honestly, I was impressed. Something very convenient in this series is the fact that you can activate internal recording through the receiver, something I haven't seen in any other product series in the category (see Rode, DJI, Boya, etc.) because it gives you the ability, after giving the transmitter to the speaker/actor/whatever, to have control without having to bother them, which in some situations is a lifesaver. Another very good feature they have is that through the receiver, there is a setting that gives color to the transmitters' light, so you can distinguish which one is channel 1 and which is channel 2, something I also haven't seen elsewhere and is very convenient because otherwise you get confused and things can get out of hand if you put the microphones on different people during the day and also need the internal backups. Also, it's very important how small they've made the transmitters. To the point that you need an adapter to have a jack port and be able to plug in a lavalier mic. Which, of course, is a bit of a double-edged sword, because for example, I usually need to use lavalier mics, so it gives me one extra thing that can go wrong. As it did. I was on a shoot in the sun and the actors were wearing long clothes, so they were sweating a lot. At some point, the sweat came into contact with the ports and they started to malfunction. The good thing is that after they dried, they worked, but generally what happened was not good. I do appreciate the small size though. The best thing of all, of course, is the 32bit they've put not only in the internal recording, but also in the transmission to the receiver, which means you can have 32bit audio directly to the recorder, for example, and not have to deal with the separate files of the internal backups.

    To conclude, I will say that obviously they are not perfect, hence the 4 stars and not 5, nevertheless, with this particular upgrade, it’s as if Hollyland saw what small issues, or rather small omissions, had occurred so far in this type of microphone and fixed them. So from me, it's a big yes. At the moment we speak -September 2025- it is the best product in this category.
