The most significant works of Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky (1821-1881) highlight the characteristics of human existence. This concern for humanity is also depicted in his shorter works, such as the three stories included in this edition.

In The Dream of a Ridiculous Man (1877), the author narrates the disappointment of a man with the world he lives in, which leads him to the decision to commit suicide. But on his last night, an inner journey into the humanity he wishes existed makes him perceive the world differently and love the concept of fellow humanity.
Is it possible for a thief to be honest? Dostoevsky argues that it could be, and he explores this in the story "The Honest Thief" (1848), where a drunken petty thief confesses his remorse for his actions just before he passes away.
Finally, in the story An Unusual Story (1862), a satirical Dostoevsky appears, referring to human passions, such as jealousy, which could prove fatal but ultimately lead to hilarious situations.
