Description

Anubias nana 'pangolino' is perhaps the smallest anubias in the world. It grows extremely slowly and it takes several months for many new leaves to form. This rarity is ideal for nano aquariums and delicate aquascaping layouts.

Anubias pangolino is a rare variant of the anubias plant with tiny leaves. It is smaller than anubias nana petite and bears a slight resemblance to bucephalandra mini coin. It is a slow-growing plant named after the scales of a pangolin.

It grows best when the rhizome is attached to hard surfaces such as wood or rocks. It has low to medium light requirements and can benefit from regular fertilization. CO2 is not necessary, but it can promote faster growth and sturdier leaves. The leaves are sensitive to algae growth if placed under high lighting.

Propagation is easy and simple. Just cut or pull apart the rhizomes to be replanted, ensuring they remain above the substrate.

  • Anubias are hardy plants that can thrive in various environments.
  • These epiphytes can be planted in substrate or attached to hardscape.
  • Avoid drastic changes in the aquarium, as unstable parameters will lead to melting and rotting of the plant.
  • Be sure to remove this plant from its pot.
  • CO2 injection and quality aquarium soil will yield better growth.
