The July events of the summer of 1965, following the resignation of Georgios Papandreou from the premiership by King Constantine II and the organization of the Apostasy, constituted the greatest social explosion of post-civil war Greece and one of the most significant conflictual episodes in modern Greek society, having been characterized as the "Greek May."

The book seeks, on the one hand, to provide a comprehensive analysis of the July events, focusing on the subjects it mobilized, their actions, their claims, and the factors that defined the dynamics of the protest. On the other hand, it aims to study the reception of the events by the Greek Left, interpreting the stances of political entities during the July events and assessing their impact on the transformations of the political landscape.

Using the conceptual and methodological tools of the field of political sociology and historical research on previously unexplored primary and archival sources, it presents a comprehensive overview of the July events and their political outcomes in the realm of the Greek Left.
