The Kali Audio Santa Monica SM-5 studio monitor is an active, self-powered speaker featuring a three-channel Class D amplifier, with dedicated channels for low, mid and high frequencies. DSP processing enables room calibration with 8 parametric EQs, up to 12 ms of delay and trim adjustment. Settings can be configured using the Kali Control Panel for Mac and Windows, either via Ethernet or by loading files from a USB flash drive.

The drivers include a 1-inch metal-dome tweeter, a 4-inch paper-cone midrange driver and a 5-inch paper-cone woofer. The input panel is recessed, while the cabinet features a front bass-reflex port and mounting holes on the top and bottom.
