Individuals with characteristics on the autism spectrum exhibit varying degrees of difficulties in communication and social interaction, which often, if not always, lead to social isolation and exclusion.

Due to the communication problems that characterize the phenomenon, adaptation issues to new environments arise, problems that are further exacerbated by increased levels of anxiety. Unsurprisingly, individuals with autism spectrum characteristics face significant challenges in the job market, both in finding employment and in maintaining it.

Shifting our focus from individuals with autism to their families, we recognize that they face not only high levels of stress and other forms of emotional burden due to the demands of care and support but also the financial burden that necessitates specialized support services and, when applicable, the high medical and therapeutic expenses required.

Consequently, the families of individuals with autism spectrum disorders face issues similar to those experienced by their supported members, such as unemployment, psychological problems, anxiety management issues, stigma, and social discrimination.

Research data shows that a significant portion of individuals with autism disorder interacts satisfactorily with the virtual world, while demonstrating lower levels of anxiety during this interaction. A commonality, therefore, seems to be the repetitiveness in processes that characterize both algorithmic processes and individuals with autism.

Finally, we must mention Artificial Intelligence. Artificial Intelligence is the next stage of the digital revolution that began with the advent of computers. It represents a combination of the cognitive fields of computer science and statistics, leveraging the high speed of data processing, as well as the existence of the enormous volume of data stored by few data companies such as Google, Microsoft, Facebook, and other social media companies that collect and store data.

The expectation is the production of systems that will be able to make autonomous decisions under conditions of uncertainty.
