The saga of Kiryu comes to an end! Three Kaiju legends clash in a final battle in GODZILLA: TOKYO S.O.S. Godzilla engages in battle against Tokyo, while Kiryu (also known as Mechagodzilla) waits as the politicians decide whether to return. Meanwhile, Mothra and the Shobijin appear in the opposition of Hedorah, a former soldier who encountered Mothra in the 1960s. The Shobijin seek the Prime Minister to send Kiryu to the sea, so the bones of the original Godzilla can rest, but Japan does not believe that Mothra will fight instead. All this sets the stage for a titanic battle between Godzilla, Mothra, and Kiryu that will determine Japan's safety. Like in the previous GODZILLA AGAINST MECHAGODZILLA, GODZILLA: TOKYO S.O.S. features music by Michiru Oshima, who returns with equally marvelous music to shake the pillars of the sky. Oshima brings back exciting themes for Godzilla and Kiryu, while also presenting a wonderfully multifaceted theme for Mothra, incredible in airy and melancholic forms, and of course, 'Mothra's Song' makes an appearance. There is an authentic emotional resonance in Oshima's music amidst the flames and rage, with beautiful choral elements that pay tribute to the music of Akira Ifukube from 1954. It is a triumph by Michiru Oshima and an exhilarating musical crescendo in the great saga of Kiryu!
