Description & Specifications

Two friends born and raised in Thessaloniki, but now living in Athens, travel separately to Italy. Since their youth, they have disagreed about what the true Mediterranean counterpart of their homeland is. One seeks it in the North (Ancona, Bologna, Trieste, Venice, Milan) and the other in the South (Naples).

One pays tribute to Rigas Feraios, while the other honors Diego Maradona. They record different versions of beauty, refinement, and chaos.

In the end, they meet again to put everything in order and narrate it to each other in a bar at the edge of the world – that is, in Athens – called "Italia," like what they claim to be the most beautiful country in the world.

Bar Italia consists of the narratives of these two journeys. Somewhere between travel memoir, essay, and literature, these texts certainly speak about Italy. At the same time, however, Italy is the pretext for discussing history, politics, love and friendship, wandering, and spending.
