VETFOOD Flora Defense Mini in capsule form for dogs and cats weighing up to 5kg is used to improve digestion.

The Flora Defense contains pure cultures of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. boulardii and the probiotic bacteria Lactobacillus rhamnosus, as well as a prebiotic (oligofructose).

Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. boulardii exhibits natural resistance to antibiotics, except for certain quinolones and antifungal medications. These yeasts are not digested in the gastrointestinal tract. The Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. boulardii produces protease that deactivates toxin A produced by Clostridium difficile. Lactobacillus rhamnosus – by producing lactic acid, reduces the pH in the intestine, thereby inhibiting the growth of pathogenic microorganisms. The ability of Lactobacillus rhamnosus to inhibit the colonization of the gastrointestinal tract by Clostridium perfringens in dogs reaches 80%. Metabolites of Lactobacillus rhamnosus stimulate both local and systemic immunity. Following enriched nutrition with this microorganism culture, increased sensitivity of cell receptors to insulin and more effective weight loss were observed, indicating the potential use of Lactobacillus rhamnosus in weight loss processes. Additionally, individuals who received Lactobacillus rhamnosus in their diet showed higher levels of GABA – a neurotransmitter that alleviates mood disorders and reduces perceived anxiety.

If necessary, the capsule can be opened and its contents mixed with a favorite treat. If the diet is based solely on dry food, it should be slightly moistened so that the capsule's contents stick to the food and can be consumed by the animal.
