The deodorant crystal (potassium alum or astringent) is a natural and soothing deodorant, as it has antibacterial properties and acts as an antiseptic, preventing the multiplication of underarm bacteria that cause odor, without blocking sweat secretion by clogging pores. Therefore, it creates an environment on the skin to prevent the formation of unpleasant odors, providing a lighter and more natural feeling. It does not work by covering unpleasant body odors like common commercial deodorants.

It is a natural mineral salt, safe to use as an alternative to the hydrated aluminum chloride salt more commonly found in commercial deodorants. The molecules of the deodorant crystal (alum) are not absorbed by the body, unlike aluminum molecules, which have been linked to various health issues.
