Description

The comprehensive picture of pharmaceutical legislation necessarily includes the relevant or corresponding European Community (Union, as it is called today) pharmaceutical legislation for veterinary medicines, as this legislation shapes the framework for vast opportunities to promote healthcare and economic activities. The writing of these university works on pharmaceutical legislation so far has arisen from the thought of a complete presentation of the pharmaceutical legal rules in our country, initiating this gradual codification of legislation from the early years of the modern Greek state to the present (2023), both in national and European legislative fields. The time has come to supplement the overall pharmaceutical law with veterinary legislation, as it has been shaped up to the year 2023 by our Union and national law.

The legal framework of the EU for both human and veterinary medicines sets standards to ensure a high level of public health protection and the quality, safety, and efficacy of approved medicines. Additionally, it promotes the functioning of the internal market, with measures to encourage innovation. It is based on the principle that a medicine (veterinary or for human use) requires a marketing authorization from the competent authorities before being placed on the market.

It is reasonable that the writing of this book requires precision and correlation with the various aspects and sources of Law, as the whole functioning of veterinary pharmaceutical legislation involves compulsory rules, beyond the principles, rules, and specific regulations of Commercial Law. Thus, an effort has been made, through a complex of conflicting provisions, laws, decrees, and decisions, to "codify" the applicable provisions for veterinary legislation, and in this way, the necessary material has been gradually structured, forming this specialized work with the elements of veterinary legislation.
