Golden in color and velvety on the palate, The Nectar is made with a finish of single malt Glenmorangie in barrels that have been used for aging sweet wines from around the world. These include Sauternes and Monbazillac from France, Moscatel from Spain, and Tokaji from Hungary.
It is a single malt aged for 14 years in bourbon barrels and then finished for another two years in a new blend of sweet white wine barrels. Rich and intoxicating, with notes of baked brioche, roasted apricot, vanilla pudding, toasted almond, chestnuts, and hints of chocolate truffle.
The texture is colorless and sticky, with a balanced lemon flavor. This leads to rich, sweet flavors of vanilla cream, baked apricots, warm raisin bread, roasting chestnuts, and a blend of spices, particularly nutmeg and star anise. The oaky flavor has a lasting presence, but is always balanced by sweet, fruity, and spicy notes.
