Whether you go for Daiwa, Shimano, or Penn Slammer IV DX, at this price point you can't go wrong. Roughly speaking, if you want smooth operation, go for Daiwa; if you want steel gears that won't break down with good sealing to prevent water intrusion (like fishing from a kayak), go for Slammer... If you want durability, not as much as the Penn but comfortable and easy to use, though not as much as Daiwa's MQ SW models, something like a middle ground, then go for this and you’re sorted in my opinion. I got it and never looked back or had any concerns. Up to 50g lures that I use from the shore and for 20 meters depth at most, it doesn’t even break a sweat... for deeper waters and heavier lures, I believe you need size 8000, as this one is relatively compact in size and weight. Finally, I think the sound it makes during the catch is amazing, for those who might be interested in something like that. It’s an excellent purchase in any case.
