This volume continues the long-term project of publishing ancient Greek and Latin inscriptions of Macedonia by the Institute of Historical Research; the volume includes the entirety of the inscriptions from the ancient regions of Krishtonia, Mygdonia (excluding Thessaloniki and its surrounding area), and Anthemounta; broadly speaking, from the Kilkis region east of the Axios River and from the Thessaloniki region.

The epigraphic material, with full documentation and historical commentary, provides valuable information about the long-term history, demographic composition, nomenclature, cults, political and institutional organization, as well as the local political life of these areas, which include both the isolated vast hinterland of cosmopolitan Thessaloniki along the Axios River or north of the lakes of Langada and Volvi, as well as cities that developed and flourished due to the Egnatia road, south of the lakes.
