Description

Description

Emma Goldman was one of the most passionate women of her time, an anarchist revolutionary who dared to defy all forms of authority and live her life according to her ideas. Her fierce determination and the vigor of her struggle, along with her integrity, continue to inspire awe and admiration even today. The Red Emma, the most dangerous woman in the world, the priestess of anarchism, the defiant trade unionist, the "bloodthirsty terrorist," the fiery feminist will serve as a unique example in humanity's attempts to create a different world, one that is freer and fairer.

From an early age, Goldman refused to submit to the tragic fate of her gender. She firmly believed that the ideal of freedom she championed was achieved through the rebellion of women. Throughout her political activism, she published articles and delivered fiery speeches on women's emancipation and their liberation from all the bonds that kept them subjugated. Marriage and love, puritanism and hypocritical morality, the right to vote and birth control, militant suffragettes and marginalized prostitutes, feminism and its practices are some of the issues with which Goldman grappled in her desperate attempt to liberate her gender. In the volume you hold in your hands, we present most of these texts, which compose what she called the tragedy of women's emancipation.
