In her new photographic album, Artist Studios, Chaos and Inspiration, Lily Tsigkou invites us on a unique visual tour of the workshops of eleven renowned Greek artists.
Through her lens, the raw, often chaotic beauty of these creative spaces is captured, highlighting each artist's deep connection to their environment and the magical path of creation. The selection of artists was based on Tsigkou's long-standing personal relationships with them, which allowed her access to spaces usually inaccessible to the general public.
Each workshop is a distinct microcosm, filled with random details and traces of inspiration, waiting for the right moment to be captured. Tsigkou's photographs focus on these elements, revealing the unpredictable charm and the unseen creative process of each artist.
The book also includes an introduction by Professor James Hall, a distinguished researcher of the history of artist studios from antiquity to the present, as well as a testimonial from photographer Tasos Vrettos addressed to Lily Tsigkou.
Art historian Louisa Karapidaki and painter Stefanos Daskalakis offer unique perspectives on the relationship between photography and painting, while artist George Rorris provides a special interview about his artistic journey.
Doctor and connoisseur of art topics of rare depth Nikos Paisios describes each studio, adding depth to this visual tour, while the album also contains texts by Tsigkou herself, accompanying the images.
The artists featured in the album are: Michalis Madenis, Kyriakos Rokos, Stefanos Daskalakis, Irini Iliopoulou, Vasilis Papadopoulos, George Rorris, Vassos Kapandais, Timos Batinakis, Dimitris Nikolaidis, Petros Karavevas, and Roubina Sarrelakou.
