Varietal composition: Single Malt
Region: Scotland
Tasting characteristics: The Glenallachie 7YO Hungarian Virgin Oak is an innovative single malt matured in Hungarian oak. Master Distiller Billy Walker traveled to the mountains of northeastern Hungary and the Zemplén forest to find something unusual. The volcanic soil, cold climate, and high altitude mean that the trees grow slowly, giving the wood a tight grain, ideal for spirit maturation.
The barrels were toasted and charred before this complex distillate was added. It is one of the first single malts to complete its maturation in Hungarian oak. An aromatic, fortified, and unique whiskey with a rich, velvety texture.
