The two texts by Perry Anderson included in this edition, "Running to Bethlehem" (New Left Review, no. 10, 2001) and "The House of Zion" (New Left Review, no. 96, 2015), were written and published during two distinct moments of testing and definitive frustration of the impossible and unequal peace that was established in the region through the Oslo Accords.
Tuning into the unequal international correlation, Anderson writes in a feverish and profound manner about the historical origins of a colonial plan that began to be realized a century ago, the destructive consequences of which are being experienced in their most extreme form by the Palestinian people, who today face the threat of genocide.
This is an important document in the dialogue on the history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and at the same time a anguished cry for the future of coexistence of peoples in the region and for international peace. More so, in the current context of the ongoing genocide, the effort to understand the historical background constitutes a small contribution and act of solidarity in the struggle of the Palestinian people for liberation.
