The J-B Weld Ultimate Black Gasket Maker & Sealant is an RTV silicone (room temperature vulcanized) sealing material designed for use on mechanical parts where maximum resistance to oil and petroleum is required. Upon curing, which occurs when the product is exposed to the moisture in the air, the silicone forms a tough, waterproof gasket and seal on most surfaces. It will not shrink or crack, resists oils and petroleum products, withstands weather conditions, is sensor-safe, has good temperature resistance up to 260 degrees Celsius intermittently, and is excellent for many automotive applications.
Preparation:
For best results, clean and dry the surface
Application:
Apply a uniform, continuous ¼ inch bead of silicone to one surface. Place it in all bolt holes
Bond:
Reconnect the parts while the silicone is wet.
Secure:
Tighten by hand until the silicone begins to squeeze out.
Dry:
Allow to dry for 1 hour and then tighten an additional ½ turn.
Finish:
Scrape or cut off excess material. Silicone will fully cure in 24 hours.
