The Hoya ProND EX 8 filter is a neutral density filter that reduces light by 3 stops. ACCU-ND technology reduces light equally across the visible and infrared spectra, preventing color shifts. For video, it allows you to adjust the shutter speed to match the frame rate, while for photography it makes longer exposures or a shallow depth of field in bright sunlight easier to achieve.
Motion blur when shooting moving subjects can give an image a more cinematic look. The filter is threaded on both sides, allowing additional ND filters to be attached in front of it or a threaded lens cap to be fitted.
