The figure of Hermann Marwede represents a modern German rescue boat. The boat was built in 2003 and measures 46 meters in length and 10.7 meters in width. Its propulsion is provided by three diesel engines with a total power of 9250 hp, allowing for a maximum speed of 25 knots. It was constructed by the German shipbuilding company Fassmer Werft, with the Polish company Aluship Gdańsk as the subcontractor, which built the hull of the vessel. Hermann Marwede belongs to the German Maritime Search and Rescue Association (DGzRS) and its name honors a long-term donor of this organization. The ship is distinguished by its very modern equipment and high degree of automation, which has significantly reduced the size of the crew. It is considered one of the largest vessels in its category in the world.
