Players gradually place camels on the hexagonal board, building caravans that stretch across the desert. The goal is to earn points by conquering watering holes, oases, and controlling “areas” by enclosing territories with their caravans. As the space on the board fills up, options narrow and pressure increases — who will manage to move smartly and block their opponents?
Enter a sandy land where camels and caravans play a decisive role in conquering the landscape. In Through the Desert, each player leads a tribe of nomads and sends camels across the fragmented desert, trying to dominate water sources and oases, while creating strategic routes and exclusive territories.

Everything you need to know to play:
Setup: Several watering holes and oases are placed at the beginning of the board, and each player places a leader and a camel on designated spots.
Player turn: In each turn, the player places two camels (in a color of their choice) on positions that must connect to existing camels of the same color and include their leader. It is not allowed to join two separate groups of the same color.
Scoring on the go: By placing a camel on a watering hole or near an oasis, the player earns points. Also, at the end, the longest caravan and the areas enclosed by the player’s caravans are scored.
End of game: When the available supply of camels of a color is exhausted or no valid placements can be made, the game ends. The player with the most points wins.
Strategic choices & pressure: As the board fills up, options become limited and placing camels requires foresight. Using different strategies — e.g., focusing on oases versus focusing on expansion — is critical.
