God speaks directly to each of our hearts as we study the Holy Scriptures. Reading it is a personal dialogue between each of us and Christ.

But we also need guidance. We fully utilize our own personal understanding supported by the Holy Spirit. We make complete use of the findings of modern biblical research.

However, we always submit our personal opinion, whether our own or that of scholars, to the collective experience of the Church through the ages.
