Diatomaceous earth is a natural mineral of plant origin, 100% natural. It is a mineral product in the form of a fine powder (like talc), white in color.
Its mode of action is mechanical, as it easily adheres to the bodies of all crawling insects and tears their waxy coating. This results in their dehydration and eventually their death after a few days. An important advantage is that insects cannot develop immunity, as it does not contain chemicals.
It is used for:
- ants of all sizes
- caterpillars of moths
- larvae of beetles
- leaf miners
- leaf rollers
- fleas
- lice
- bed bugs
- mites
- ticks
- cockroaches (small, large)
- snails
- slugs
- spiders
- termites
- scale insects
- centipedes
- flies
- earwigs
- aphids
- thrips
- root weevils
- many other insects
It does not kill beneficial earthworms.
It is suitable and safe for use in homes, warehouses, crops, ornamental plants, as well as in vegetable gardens or on pets. Freshwater diatomaceous earth can also be used for potted plants (mainly in bonsai) and as an insecticide in the storage of grains and animal feeds.
