Today, the concept of legal correctness occupies very little attention in legal science. Central stage has been taken by the problematic of "political correctness." In the words of Francis Fukuyama, "political correctness refers to things we cannot say publicly without fearing a humiliating moral condemnation." There are countless examples that extend into almost all areas of our lives, resulting in the aggressive modifier "political" (correctness) being rather misleading: Political correctness in public discourse, in the arts, in education, in science, in professional and workplace relationships, in journalism, in religion, in international relations, in advertising, and on social media are just a few of the fields where political correctness prevails.

This book, through numerous examples, argues that political correctness constitutes a significant limitation on the freedoms of expression and art and on academic-scientific freedom. Indeed, while the initial thought of political correctness could be characterized as positive (in the sense that one should respect the sensitivities of others, not offend them, and accept their right to think and live differently from you), its implementation often leads to uniformity, the eradication of diversity, and the inability to express minority opinions. In the words of Nick Cave, "political correctness has become the most unhappy religion in the world. Its once-honorable effort to redefine our society in a fairer way now incorporates the worst aspects that religion has to offer (and none of its beauty)."
