    It has solved a basic problem that I always had with knives. If you leave them with the blade up, you can get cut, and with the blade down, it collects dirt. However, this base keeps them almost suspended in the air with the blade down. The base comes off relatively easily and can be washed. I recommend it, unless you have limited space on your countertop. It is a bit bigger than I expected. It takes up as much space as a medium-sized pitcher and two glasses of water!

    One year later. The medium-sized knife base started to get a little dirty, and although it can be removed for cleaning, it is not very easy. Imagine trying to clean the base of a brush.
