ILIAD AND ODYSSEY (VOLUME II)
Interpreting the epic of the Odyssey. Ramses II the Great.
A new perspective on the dating of the Trojan war.
Ismene K. Martin. When did the Trojan war happen?
The ancient and Byzantine Greek writers have addressed the issue with specific elements, a significant portion of which is included in chapter 8, and contemporary intellectual thought has provided its own answers.
This study attempts a new approach to the dating of the Trojan war, starting from the references of the epics regarding Egypt and seeking its pharaoh during the time of the Trojans.
Following the tracks of Proteus in the works of Ancient Greek and Byzantine Literature and in the bibliography of the 19th century, and subsequently correlating the elements, it is determined that Proteus is identified with the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses II the Great.
