  • I bought the evo repellent from their website, I have only used its own tablets but I want to try the commercial ones like Raid too. I have to say that it does an excellent job! It just needs around 5 minutes to activate, that is, for the tablets to heat up, etc., and then nothing bites me. It is a little heavy but I already love it!

On the first try, we were not impressed by its performance. Maybe the mosquitoes where we were were very hungry and ignored the existence of insect repellents. With the device turned on half a meter next to us and in outdoor mode (it supposedly covers a diameter of up to 12 meters), the mosquitoes were flying over our ears. Before the first use, however, the magnet underneath could not withstand the weight of the device and came off, with the result that the magnet stayed where it had been attached and the device fell, fortunately onto the carpet and not from a great height. The tablets used during the first use had marks from the heating element on them, but they had not performed like a household device that turns them white after use. The company recommends using only its own tablets, but I do not think it makes any difference if you use tablets from another manufacturer too, unless theirs are thinner and perform better. Even if you use thicker ones (e.g. regular Aroxol), they still do not sit properly inside, and it is a good idea to bend them a little at the edge so they wedge in; otherwise they float around inside and fall out at the first tilt. Note that the device accepts up to two tablets, one on each side of its heating element, and we had put in two tablets when we tested it outdoors. The 165°C written on it, warning you not to touch it when operating, we think is there for marketing reasons, since it never bothered us to hold it while it was running. It ran all night until its battery was exhausted. As a flashlight it is good, but who buys an insect repellent device for its flashlight?

Edit 20/07/2026: Photos added. The device does not produce enough heat to evaporate the tablet. It was tested again over the weekend and did nothing to repel insects (mosquitoes/gnats). As a flashlight, it is still more useful.
