The Kowa BD 12x56 XD Prominar binoculars offer 12x magnification and 56 mm objective lenses, each consisting of two XD elements. PROMINAR XD lenses provide increased light transmission and contrast, while the two XD elements reduce chromatic aberration. The minimum focusing distance is 3 m, allowing you to observe nearby objects such as plants and insects.

The body is made of magnesium alloy, and the binoculars have a wide field of view, suitable for tracking moving subjects and observing expansive areas. The C3 coating on the Schmidt-Pechan prisms provides reflectivity of 99% or higher across the visible spectrum of 400–700 nm, while the KR coating on the outer lens surfaces makes stains easier to remove and protects against dirt and residue.
