Top Converter and Precision Sound

At the heart of the HD 620S is a custom-tuned 42mm dynamic transducer, manufactured at Sennheiser's state-of-the-art factory in Ireland. The 150-ohm aluminum voice coil ensures ultra-fast transients and outstanding clarity in musical instruments, delivering punchy dynamics across the entire frequency range. This combination allows audiophiles and gamers to experience every tiny detail, balancing sound authenticity with deep and clean bass.

Immersive Soundstage and Acoustic Isolation

Despite their closed design, the HD 620S offer an impressively open soundstage thanks to the angled baffle design, which simulates the behavior of open-back headphones. The steel plate that seals the back acts as an effective insulator, managing internal reflections that could blur the signal. The result is a triangular imaging that places the listener at the center of the action, whether it’s a live recording or a multiplayer game.

Iconic Comfort and Premium Build

Based on a chassis loved by streamers and gamers for comfort during long hours of use, the HD 620S offers instant fit at the ideal listening position (sweet spot). The construction is reinforced with metal in the headband frame and the earcup shells, ensuring long-lasting durability. The metal details not only provide a premium feel to the touch, but also serve acoustic purposes, enhancing signal clarity and isolation from the environment.

Flexible Connectivity and Accessories

The detachable 1.8-meter cable features a 3.5mm plug with an integrated thread for the included 6.3mm adapter, while the twist-and-lock system allows for easy use of aftermarket options. Sennheiser also offers an optional balanced 4.4mm cable for connection to high-end audio devices. The package includes a fabric storage pouch for dust protection, making the headphones ready for any professional or home use.

Review this product
  • This is the 2nd product I’ve bought from Sennheiser, as I also had wireless Bluetooth headphones (Momentum) and was extremely pleased with them.

Their sound is flat, and if I’ve understood correctly from other reviews, it’s the same as the 560s, which are open-back.
They have an amazing soundstage (some say it resembles an open-back design, but I’ve never owned one to confirm) and imaging for gaming. I used to think there was something wrong with my ears because I couldn’t hear sounds like footsteps or distant sounds (I was even considering going to an ENT specialist), but now, in competitive games, I’m the one on the team giving calls and directions. And I say that because you get absolute clarity regarding the direction and distance of sounds.

At first, I had them plugged directly into the motherboard, since after searching on Google I read that you don’t need a sound card to drive them, so you can just use them as they are. However, I’ve paired them with a Fiio K11 to get a little more headroom, and at 85% with medium gain, it’s exactly where I want it. For music, I’d say I can go down to 70%.

For the equalizer, I’ve used APO + Peace mostly to experiment with specific Hz ranges depending on the game, with the help of AI, of course.

Sound and build quality befitting the brand. Absolutely sturdy, with quality plastic and leather throughout.

Finally, the clamp force is just right, without the headband tiring out your head, and there’s proper noise isolation from external sounds. The leatherette earpads might cause issues in the summer.
It’s an excellent choice if you have something between Sennheiser and the equivalent closed-back DT 770 from BD in mind.
