The sides that rest against your hand are covered with rubber, and the grip features a two-stage shutter release, a control dial, and function and AF point selection / reduction buttons.

The holder for Ni-MH batteries allows you to use the grip in low temperatures and as a backup power source when no charger is available. The bottom features a tripod socket and a wrist strap attachment.
