The Dictionary of the dialect of northeastern Arcadia is the result of primary research based on native speakers of this dialect, which is spoken in the northern part of the former province of Mantineia and on the outskirts of Gortynia.
The dictionary contains 4,200 entries and approximately 5,210 meanings. These entries were primarily collected through field research and secondarily from existing written sources, and were gradually documented one by one by a group of native speakers of the dialect.
In addition to semantic processing, each entry is accompanied by phonological, morphological, syntactic, and stylistic information. The use of the entries becomes clear through authentic usage examples, phrases, and stereotypical expressions, conjunctions, as well as proverbs, sayings, and lines from local folk songs.
The preface of the book also includes a brief grammar of the dialect, the research methodology applied for the collection and documentation of the lexical corpus, as well as a detailed description of the structure of the dictionary.
