With the grace of God and the intercessions of Saint Luke, with this volume we continue and complete the journey with the holy shepherd and physician. Our last stop is the peninsula of Crimea, where the Saint was born and lived the last years of his earthly life.
This volume differs somewhat from the previous ones. While it remains a journey account, it is primarily a record of testimonies from people who knew him or lived with him. In the fifteen years he spent in Crimea, he did not experience the persecutions of previous years. However, he faced a insidious persecution from the atheistic authorities, which caused him great emotional pain.
This entire underground war is revealed through the recently uncovered KGB archives, which provide a different perspective on the martyrdom of the Saint. The ancient persecutors of Christians, with their reports, became for us a source of information about the holy martyrs, inadvertently becoming hagiographers.
Similarly, contemporary persecutors and informants from the secret services, with their classified reports and documents, complete our knowledge of the Saint and reveal his image to us as more brilliant and pure.
In the third and final volume of our `journey` with the Saint, we learn about his life in the Crimean peninsula. The first and second volumes precede this one.
