A tactical board game for 2 players.
Players try to create a horizontal, vertical or diagonal row of 5 pieces (a five-in-a-row) bearing their symbol (X or O), while preventing their opponent from being the first to do so.
Quixo may look similar to tic-tac-toe—with one player using O and the other X, each trying to make a line with their symbol—but that’s where the similarity ends. The symbols in Quixo are cubes with an O on one side, an X on another, and four blank sides.
At the start of the game, players place all 25 cubes on the game base with their blank sides facing up. On each turn, a player takes a blank cube, rotates it to show their symbol, and puts it back on the board by pushing one of the rows from which a cube was removed (either horizontally or vertically), creating an empty space. As a result, some pieces on the board change position each turn, and the cubes gradually change from blank to O or X. The game continues until a player is the first to form a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line of five cubes bearing their symbol—they are the winner.
