The GOMASTIT 405 is suitable for elastic bonding and sealing of elements exposed to high temperatures, in the construction of heating systems, stoves, ovens, and chimneys. It is not suitable for non-ferrous metals and concrete.
The preliminary testing of the bonding materials and appropriate surface preparation are essential for successful adhesion/sealing. To enhance adhesion, the substrates must be clean, free from grease, rust, old burn marks, and non-sealing materials, and have perfect structure.
The GOMASTIT 405 adheres to various substrates such as glass, metals, and various plastics without a primer. The elements to be bonded should be assembled immediately and stabilized if necessary. It should not be heated to high temperatures before it is fully cured. Its temperature resistance can be significantly improved by the aging (curing) method.
Correct sizing of the joints is necessary for excellent sealing. To apply the material, cut the tube, screw on the nozzle, and spread the material in lines, using a gun or a spatula, evenly on the surfaces to be bonded. The thickness of the material depends on the surface of the materials to be bonded. Adjust the connection within 10 minutes at the latest. The surfaces should remain stable for 24 hours.
Cleaning is done:
- BEFORE: With TURBO TOP-CLEAN or common cleaners, such as alcohol, turpentine, White spirit, nitro solvent, etc.
- AFTER: The excess material can be cleaned – while wet – with alcohol or, alternatively, removed with a spatula or knife.
