The MIG method requires the wire to have a special coating (flux) otherwise it needs to be connected to an external gas cylinder (e.g., argon, CO2). While the TIG method is suitable for slow welding on aluminum and stainless steel that requires detailed work and does not create splashes. It can operate continuously for 6 minutes at 110A before needing to stop to cool down.
