Paris, May 1968: Barricades are erected, students take to the streets in fiery protests, the fuse is lit, ten million workers declare a general strike, and the walls become the score of the symphonic poetry of the streets.
Two twin French girls and a young American of the same age get caught up in the revolutionary situation, in this first worldwide luxury revolution, a revolution whose main agenda (and proposition) was the adventure of poetry and the poetry of adventure.
"The Dreamers" by Gilbert Adair is the first novel in a new literary series published by Oxy editions, curated and translated by George Ikaros Babassakis. The Scottish poet and novelist Gilbert Adair was born in Edinburgh but spent the most creative years of his life in Paris. The first version of "The Dreamers" was published in 1988 under the title "The Holy Innocents" and was reissued in 2003 with the new title "The Dreamers" when the famous film of the same name by Bertolucci, based on the book, was released.
