Lenses with variable optical (zoom) that remain equally bright (same maximum aperture value) throughout the entire focal distance range they offer. Usually significantly more expensive than their variable aperture counterparts.

    Fixed Focal Length

Lenses with fixed optics are usually of higher quality than a corresponding zoom lens at the same focal distance. They are also called "fixed" or "prime" lenses.

  • Sensor Type

    Full Frame

Photographic lenses designed for use on full frame sensor cameras. A full frame lens can also be used on a crop frame sensor camera, but with its focal length adjusted according to the corresponding crop factor.

For example, a full frame lens with a focal length of 50mm (standard) on a camera body with a crop factor of 1.6 will function with a perspective as if it were an 80mm lens (telephoto).

The reverse does not work as the optics of a crop frame lens are not sufficient to cover an entire full frame sensor, resulting in the edges of the frame being black (severe vignetting).

  • Maximum Aperture (f)

Opening the diaphragm determines the amount of light received by the camera and affects the depth of field.
    2. The most open aperture of a lens is called the maximum. The more open the aperture (smaller f-number), the shallower the depth of field.

Description

Description

The Voigtlander Heliar 40 mm f/2.8 is a compact semi-wide-angle lens, designed based on traditional helical design and the latest optical technologies for exceptionally accurate imaging. The 40 mm focal length is ideal for cinematography, street photography, and reportage.

With natural imaging, it allows for the capture of stunning portraits and landscapes. The optical system consists of 5 elements in 3 groups, with an aspherical element in the center, which improves image quality. It is characterized by good correction of chromatic aberrations, high micro-contrast, and sharpness from edge to edge.

The ten-blade aperture allows control of the amount of light, adjustable from f/2.8 to f/22, providing freedom in the use of depth of field. The minimum focusing distance on Leica M mount bodies is 70 cm.

Voigtlander lenses are known for their high build quality. The Heliar 40 mm f/2.8 maintains this tradition with metal construction, ensuring long-term precision. The focusing ring moves smoothly with the appropriate resistance, and it features an ergonomic pusher that locks the helical movement.

The lens features a Leica M bayonet, compatible with Leica and Voigtlander rangefinder cameras, and can be used with an adapter on other mirrorless cameras. It covers the entire 35 mm frame and medium format sensors with slight vignetting.
