VLAN mode isolates ports 1–14 while allowing them to communicate with ports 15 and 16. Extend mode supports transmission over distances of up to 250 m at 10 Mb/s. Green Ethernet technology and the IEEE 802.3az standard help reduce power consumption.

The switch has a fanless metal housing and supports installation in a 19-inch rack using the included mounting brackets.
